Have you ever been so immersed in something that nothing could stop you or break your rhythm? Was there a time when you were completely in the moment, yet, at the same time, able to clearly see the next moves ahead of you? In positive psychology, this is called the flow state.

Flow state is the optimal state of consciousness where we feel and perform our best.

The concept dates back to the early 1900s, but it wasn’t truly brought to life until the 1980’s by psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi.  In his book, "Finding Flow," Csíkszentmihályi writes, "flow also happens when a person's skills are fully involved in overcoming a challenge that is just about manageable, so it acts as a magnet for learning new skills and increasing challenges. If challenges are too low, one gets back to flow by increasing them. If challenges are too great, one can return to the flow state by learning new skills."

Flow state can be summarized with the acronym STER: Selflessness, Timelessness, Effortlessness, and Richness.

This remarkable mental state occurs when your attention is so focused on the task at hand that you lose track of time and become fully absorbed in the activity. It's the feeling of being "in the zone" for athletes, experiencing a "runner's high" while exercising, being "unconscious" for basketball players, achieving the "forever box" as a comedian, or being "in the pocket" for musicians. It's akin to what some describe as going "beast mode," a mindset often associated with high achievers like Elon Musk.

In the context of flow state, tasks should be like Goldilocks' porridge – not exceeding someone's capabilities, which can result in anxiety, but also not falling short of their capabilities, which leads to boredom. In the state of flow, goals are clear and feedback is immediate. The challenge is neither too easy nor too difficult and the experience is incredibly rich and fulfilling. This state of mind can boost creativity, enhance learning , and supercharge productivity.

But how does this relate to Feel State and cannabis?

At Feel State, we believe that cannabis, when used properly, has the ability to better connect individuals to themselves, each other, and their communities. It can act as a catalyst to build stronger bonds between people, enhance our self-awareness, and bring us closer to ideas, art, and nature. Cannabis can grant us the presence of mind to consider new perspectives and enhance our divergent thinking. In short, cannabis can allow us to live optimally in the moment - the flow state.

Our philosophy at Feel State is that if you use cannabis to help achieve a state of flow, that is the Feel State.

Being present isn't merely about experiencing the flow state; it's about using cannabis responsibly to enter this optimal state of consciousness. Whether you're an artist, athlete, writer, or entrepreneur, finding your flow state can lead to increased productivity and overall well-being.

In conclusion, finding your flow state is an essential aspect of feeling your best and performing your best. It's about achieving a heightened state of consciousness, where your attention is laser-focused, and time becomes irrelevant. Cannabis, when used responsibly, can be a powerful tool to help you reach the Feel State, bringing you closer to your most optimal self. So, next time you want to enhance your creativity, learning, and productivity, consider Feel State as your trusted source for achieving that elusive flow state.
