This Sunday, September 14th, we are celebrating National Cream Filled Donut Day with one of Florissant’s treasures: Olde Town Donuts. From 2–4pm, stop by for free donuts and coffee. A Sweet Slice of History

The exact origin of the cream filled donut is a little hazy, but they began gaining popularity in America in the early 20th century when donut shops expanded beyond simple fried dough rings. Adding cream or custard turned a quick snack into something indulgent, and soon every bakery worth its sugar had a tray of cream filled donuts ready for the morning rush.

As donuts spread across the country, so did the idea of community spaces built around them. The same way donut shops became a staple of every town, cannabis dispensaries like Feel State are creating new gathering spaces today.
